The southern Costa Blanca is located between Alicante and Torre de la Horadada. The region is characterized by the fantastic beaches on the Mediterranean Sea. Where there are many rock or pebble beaches in the surrounding Costas, including the Costa Blanca North, the Costa Blanca South has beautiful white sandy beaches. The Costa Blanca has a unique micro climate which is due to the long, not very high mountain range in the hinterland, starting from Murcia and running all the way to Denia. These bowl-shaped mountain peaks are high enough to act as a kind of catalyst for the weather influences from both inland and from the Mediterranean Sea. The southern Costa Blanca also offers many golf courses and plenty of shopping opportunities in Murcia, Alicante, Torrevieja, Elche and La Zenia.
